The ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) announced that it will provide seven organizations, including Montgomery County Animal Rescue in Red Oak, IA, with more than $30000 in grant funding dedicated to provide aid for groups affected by recent severe weather incidents or helping improve disaster preparedness measures in the community. MCAR received a $7000 grant to provide kennels for stray and abandoned animals displaced by the Missouri River flooding which impacted communities throughout Southwest Iowa. This grant helped MCAR replace old chainlink kennels with more secure kennels to insure the safety of the dogs being housed. Old kennels in good condition were moved outside to allow our shelter dogs fresh air and off leash exercise in a secure location.
